About the course
In this course, Ustadha Raneem Mohammad Adel continues the perfect introduction to the art of singing. The best way to become a munshid, or become adept at singing the classical codes is to carefully familiarise yourself with the 7 maqams. These maqams are initially introduced in inshad part one, however a deeper and more focused attention is given them in part two. The famous tunes linked to the Eastern musical tradition are encapsulated in the phrase – صنع بسحر – or created by magic – these 7 letters standing for the seven classical maqams listed below under the course format. Students will learn two new qasidahs (nasheeds) in each maqam, and learn how to connect between them and hold the tune to recite the fatihah in to become entrenched in that maqam.
