An introductory course to the art of singing Islamic odes, Inshad will give you the chance to sing directly with Sarah Shaikh. Learn the meanings of, memorize, and practice five of the best-known nasheeds in our religious tradition.

Course format
The course runs for five weeks each term. Classes will be taught weekly. Students are expected to listen to the recordings and practice on their own each week before the Live Session. The live lesson shall be your chance to practice directly: students shall sing to, and receive instruction from Ustadha Sarah.
Each section is limited to 6 students.
The course shall cover one nasheed a week:
Week 1 : Maqaam Al-Bayat 1- دعوني اناجي 2- مالي سواك
Week 2 : Maqam Al-Hijaz 1- اتيناك بالفقر 2- يا من عقدت طفلا
Week 3 : Maqam Al-Seeka 1- وجهي بنور الحق 2- بروق الحي لماعه
Week 4 : Maqam Al-Rasd 1- طلعة المحبوب 2- اقبل الينا صادقا
Week 5 : Maqam Al-Saba 1- رنحي يا صبا 2- اليوم يا بدري
Week 6 : Maqam Al-Ajam 1- ايه نسيم الاسحار 2- عيدو الي الوصال
Week 7 : Maqam Al-Nahwanad 1- دارت كؤوس الغرام 2- يا رجالا غابو
Weekly Time Commitment
Students are expected to listen to the recordings and practice on their own each week before the Live class.
Suggested readings
The course material shall include the written text and the audio recordings of the nasheeds and English translations of the verses.
