About the Course
In this course students will listen to recorded lessons of Ustadh Yunus al-Hamdani reading Imam Nawawi’s Forty Hadith in Arabic, and then individually read each hadith back to him in the Live Classes. When their recitation is approved by Ustadh Yunus, the students will officially become one of the hadith transmitters in a chain extending all the way back to Imam Nawawi himself. Upon successfully reading the entire work to the instructor, students will receive their own copy of the silsila, the chain of narrators, with their name added to it. Ustadh Yunus al-Hamdani has a sanad in all of the hadiths of Imam Nawawi.
Receiving an Ijaza for a collection of hadith is the first step towards becoming a master of hadith. Not only are his achievements validated by another scholar, he is also henceforth connected with the author of the book he has studied on a spiritual and scholarly level. Just as Imam Nawawi taught his students, one can also teach his own pupils with permission from his shaykh. An ijaza is a direct manifestation to the world that one has invested his time in something valuable to him. It is an honorary accomplishment and its merit is respected by the majority of Muslims around the world.
The live classes will also be translated by Afiya Yamani.
The entire collection of 40 hadith shall take approximately 2 terms to cover, depending on the pace and proficiency with which students are able to read back the original Arabic text to the instructor.
