Biography

From 1997 to 2003, Dr. Ashraf studied Islamic law in Damascus where he graduated with honors from Mahad al Fath. He received private tutelage in Methodology and Hanafi Fiqh from Sheikh Hassan al Hindi; and studied Hanafi Fiqh, hadith and hadith sciences with Sheikh Adnan Darwish; Hanafi Fiqh with Sheikh Abdul Rahman Arjan; Tenets of Faith with Sheikh Mustafa al-Turkmani; Hadith with Dr. Nureddin al-’Itr; and Hadith Sciences with Sheikh Bassam al-Hamzawi. After moving to Amman Jordan in 2004, he undertook a comprehensive study of inheritance law with Sheikh Ali Hani.

From the University of Imam al-Ouzai, Beirut Dr. Ashraf obtained an MA in Islamic Studies (Problems in Family Law for Muslims in the United States) with honors in 2006. In 2008 he received his PhD with distinction in Islamic Studies for his work on the Effects of Family Law on Muslims in the United States.

Dr. Ashraf was recognized in 2010 as a certified Shariah auditor and advisor by the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI). This is the highest certificate given by AAOIFI, the most notable authority in the field of Islamic finance.

In 2010 Dr Ashraf was certified by the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) as a certified Shariah auditor and advisor. This is the highest level of certification the AAOIFI award. They are of the most prominent authority in the field of Islamic Finance.

At present, he lives in Amman with his wife Ustadha Hedaya Hartford. Currently, he is studying Hanafi Fiqh with Sheikh Ahmad al-Jammal and teaching.
