Biography

Dr. Moatasem is an attorney who received his LL.B in 1995 from Alexandria University, Egypt, followed by an LL.M in 1997. Then he traveled to the United States, and obtained an LL.M from Cornell. His studies at Cornell was focused on corporate law.

In addition he also has JSD from the University of California, Berkeley. In the same year, 2004, he was admitted to the New York Bar and is now an assistant professor at the  University Of Alexandria Faculty of Law, Alexandria University.

Dr Moatasem studied Maliki Fiqh, as well as other sciences such as Aqida, Tasawwuf and Tajweed with several sheikhs in California, Qatar and Jordan.

He began as a practicing Maliki and after studying Hanafi Fiqh with Dr. Ashraf Muneeb in Amman converted to practicing in the Hanafi school of law.

Dr. Moastasem continues his Shariah studies in Egypt, where he currently lives with his family.
