Module 5: KSA’s–Revelation

The Prophet ﷺ received revelation at the age of 40 on one of his regular seclusions in Ghar Hira. There atop the mountain, the archangel Gabriel related the first verses of the Quran to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: “Recite!” This first encounter with Gabriel and the Word of Allah shook the Prophet ﷺ. At first, he ﷺ did not know what to make of it, but the Quran continued to descend on the Prophet ﷺ through the archangel Gabriel. This marks the beginning of Islam and the first community of Muslims who believed in the Prophet’s message. They included his ﷺ close family and friends. Thanks to the trials they withstood in the early days of Mecca and their efforts to spread Allah’s din, Islam reached us today.
