Introduction to the Science of Qira’at

Sheikh Dr. Samer Jaber

This introduction to the canonical Qira’at (readings) will give students a foundation in the ten variant readings of the Quran. It will expose them to recitation techniques and allow them to put what theory they know into practice, under the mentorship of Sheikh Samer Jaber, himself a master of tajweed with its variant readings. It will also expose them to the conditions, grammatical rules, nuances, and rarities of the Qir’at variants.

Finally, they will gain an understanding of how these readings have reached us today and undergone a process of acceptance and canonization.

The course includes an introduction to the discipline of Qir’at, its history, and the reason for variation in Quranic recitations. Students will learn to identify the main features that characterize each of the ten canonical readings, which are:

• Nafi’ al-Madani,
• Ibn Kathir al-Makki,
• Abu Amr of Basra,
• Ibn Amir ad-Dimashqi,
• Aasim ibn Abi al-Najud,
• Hamzah al-Zayyat,
• Al-Kisa’i,
• Abu Ja’far al-Madani,
• Yaqoub al-Hadrami,
• and Khalaf ibn Hisham

Each of these eponyms will be introduced briefly in the relevant section.

مقدمة في علم القراءات

 تقدم هذه المقدمة في القراءات للطلاب أساسًا في القراءات العشر للقرآن الكريم. تُعرّفهم على تقنيات التلاوة، وتُمكّنهم من تطبيق ما تعلموه من نظريات، تحت إشراف الشيخ سامر جابر. كما أيضا تُعرّفهم على شروط القراءات وقواعدها النحوية، وفروقها الدقيقة، وخصائصها النادرة.

وأخيرًا، سيكتسبون فهمًا لكيفية وصول هذه القراءات إلينا اليوم، وخضوعها لعملية القبول والتقنين.

تتضمن الدورة مقدمة في علم القراءات، وتاريخه، وأسباب اختلاف القراءات القرآنية. سيتعلم الطلاب تحديد السمات الرئيسية التي تميز كلًا من القراءات العشر الشرعية، وهي:

* ابن كثير المكي،

* أبو عمرو البصري،

* ابن عامر الدمشقي،

* عاصم بن أبي النجود،

* يعقوب الحضرمي،
