Course Introduction

Imam al-Ghazali classified all beneficial knowledge into two essential categories: ‘Ilm al-Adyan and ‘Ilm al-Abdan — the knowledge of religion and the knowledge of the body, the vehicle through which the path to the Divine is traversed. This distinction is profound because proper practice of the Deen depends upon a healthy and functional body and mind. As the Prophet said, “The strong believer is more beloved to Allah than the weak believer,” for the strong believer can worship with greater focus, endurance, and breadth of pious action. If one looks across the resources available throughout the world on ‘Ilm al-Adyan, the field is abundant — books, institutes, lectures, and thousands of courses exist. Yet ‘Ilm al-Abdan and its authentic, deep Islamic understanding is grossly lacking. Most existing material remains limited to scattered remedies connected to individual diseases rather than a true medical system rooted in the principles of Tibb al-Nabawi that cultivates a coherent understanding of the body, balance, and healing. Foundational understanding alone is not enough. When a paradigm is true and grounded in sound principles, it must yield real, practical results. Hakim Shabaz has not only established a methodology of treatment – called The Tibb – but has also applied these principles to successfully treat a wide range of modern conditions largely considered incurable by conventional medicine. He continues to refine and expand his methodology, which has generated growing interest both within and outside the Islamic world. Gender dysphoria—once regarded as a distant concern affecting only Western non-Muslim societies—is now knocking at the very doors of the Muslim community. Alongside this, the spread of pornography and sexual perversions is eroding the moral fabric of families and reshaping the minds of even the youngest. Anxiety, compulsive behaviors, and emotional instability are becoming disturbingly common. Many families turn to ruqyah for perceived supernatural issues, not realizing that many of these problems have deep physical, emotional, and generational roots. Are these afflictions simply “destiny,” unchangeable and inevitable? Or do they often originate in the choices, health, and emotional states of the parents—long before conception even takes place? What is truly in our hands, and what must we submit to as divine decree? This course will help you answer those questions with clarity.
