Quranic Roots: Arabic Morphology
Part 1
Sawsan Mostafa Nashaat
Course Overview
The study of words, their different forms, and how they come together in a language to create meaning is called morphology. As part of Kiflayn’s ongoing curriculum to discover the meaning of the Quran, we are now offering a course that explores Arabic Quranic roots.
This course runs for six weeks, during which students will be introduced to the most common Arabic roots that appear throughout the Quran. In each lesson, the teacher will introduce five Arabic root words, explain their core meaning and derivation, examples of how they appear in the Quran, and their different contexts.
Ustadha Sawsan will highlight fundamental ideas repeated in the Quran through different noun and verb forms. These concepts are presented in a unique diagram mapping out examples of the morphology of Quranic roots so that students may use the notes as a reference for their future studies.
