Tajweed Masterclass: Hafs ‘an ‘Asim
“The Prophet ( Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “The best of you are those who learn (over time) the Quran and teach it.” ~Bukhari
Course Overview
A masterclass for tajweed teachers and advanced students only. In this course you will have the opportunity to begin recitation of the first juz’ of the Quran with Sheikh Muhammad Noor Sabreen, Ustadh Hatim Yousef or Ustadha Aisha Abd al-Munim. Sheikh Muhammad Noor is the possessor of the world’s highest ijaza and has the shortest sanad to the Prophet ﷺ in the narration of Hafs ‘an ‘Asim.
You can choose to enroll in the ijaza track, and upon satisfactory completion of the entire Quran you shall receive formal authorization to transmit the final entire Quran to others. Alternatively you can choose to enroll in the sanad track by reciting the entire Quran from memory to receive the sanad, becoming part of the chain of scholars going back to the Prophet ﷺ.
Ijaza track students should note that ijaza is only issued at the teacher’s discretion – completing the recitation of the entire Quran does not guarantee one shall receive an ijaza. Students completing the sanad must travel to Amman to undergo a face-to-face examination and receive the sanad in person from Sheikh Muhammad Noor.
Women preparing for the sanad with a male teacher recite without any video turned on. However each term every female student must undergo an examination with Ustadha Aisha where their webcam must be turned on. This session shall not be recorded.
You shall have two 25-minute private lessons with your instructor each week, and shall need headphones and a microphone to recite into. You must pass the course in order to progress on to the next level. It is normal for students to take the same level multiple times before attaining a pass.
Syllabus
The course shall begin with the recitation of the first juz’ of the Quran. Students shall progress on to receiving an ijaza or the sanad depending on their individual level of proficiency.
