Course Overview
We are delighted to announce a critically important course for girls aged 12-16 years. Taught by an experienced educator from the US, the course is the first of an exciting two-part program for young Muslim women.
In an age that has subverted the role of the ideal woman in society, this course aims to equip girls with the essential knowledge they require to make a healthy transition into womanhood. It will practically explore a range of issues that confront girls today while candidly supplying them with the guidance to understand our purpose and religious responsibilities in life, as well as helping them to cultivate a personal relationship with Allah and His Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace).

- The physical and mental differences between a girl and a woman
- The biological changes that take place at the onset of puberty
- Menstruation and establishing womanhood in Islam; when is it likely to start and what signs to look for
- The ins and outs of what happens to a girl physically, emotionally and socially at the onset of puberty and menstruation
- Becoming morally responsible and accountable before Allah
- Fiqh of menstruation simplified
- How to perform ghusl
- General cleanliness from the Prophetic sunna (body odour, hair removal, nails, istinja etc.)
- Self-care and self-esteem
- Choosing friends and being a friend
- Cultivating Allah-centered relationships
- Signs of toxic friends and how to deal with peer pressure
- Rights of parents
- Setting boundaries
- Navigating social media
- A Spirit of Service: Small ways to make a big difference.

About Asma Patel
Ustadha Asma Patel has a Montessori Diploma in TEAL (Teaching English as an Additional Language) from Montessori Centre International, UK and an ESL certification from the American University of Cairo. She has experience teaching all subjects as an elementary teacher at the Jeddah International School, as well as serving as an ESL instructor for Dar-al-Hanan, Queen Iffath schools in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She also served as a Mixed-media Art instructor for K-12 at the Noble Leadership Academy in New Jersey. She completed a curriculum development training workshop in the Understanding by design (UbD) method at the Noble Leadership Academy. Ustadha Patel has an Ijaaza in Quran recitation (Riwayah Hafs an Asim). She has served as an Arabic/ Quran tutor for various age groups ranging from children to adults. She has been home-schooling her teenage daughter for many years and has served as a teacher and mentor to girls of all ages. She currently lives with her husband and children in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
